Trusted to care in Chelsea
I decided to join Care UK in 2017 as a way to make a change and share my background in Spiritual Development and Counselling. I have previous experience in teaching and acting/directing and love to bring a side of fun and joy to the home.
I love to organise events in the home as a way to bring everyone together and really getting to know each person’s uniqueness. I also love the fact that every day I can take the time to listen, think and make people smile. This role is a great way for me to give back.
In my spare time I love to loosen up with tango dancing and travelling whenever I can.
I am passionate about food and wanted to bring my experience in cooking to a place like Care UK, where seeing the smiles on the resident’s faces brings me joy. Since joining in 2017 I am happy coming into work every day knowing I am part of a great team. We are all reliable, hardworking and have a positive mind set which helps us to create great environment for everyone.
When I am not at work I love my church community, gospel songs and I love to unwind by staying active at the gym.
I volunteered in a care home as a teenager as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Award and loved it, so after graduating from university, a career in care seemed like the perfect fit.
I’m passionate about care, and in my job it’s vital to be people-oriented – you have to be able to build good relationships with everyone in the home. Being a quick thinker and a great problem solver are also important qualities.
Being part of such an enthusiastic and caring team is rewarding, and my role is to support them and help make Ellesmere House a great place to work and live.
The best part of my day is when I go out and see the residents. I make sure I’m not shut away in my office all day, and that I engage with the life of the home. Making residents smile makes my day.
