Our lifestyle team ensures that our group activities are tailored to residents’ interests and hobbies.
Quizzes, music sessions, gardening, games and getting up close to visiting pet therapy animals are among the many activities that residents of Ferndown Manor enjoy. Our lifestyle team also spends time one-to-one with residents too, supporting them to do whatever individual activities they’d like to do.
We try to get out and about whenever we can to make the most of our incredible surroundings too. We’re very lucky to have the lovely New Forest as well as the Dorset seaside towns of Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch on our doorstep.
Making wishes come true
At Ferndown Manor we understand that older people still have dreams and wishes that they’d like to fulfil, so we have a small ‘wishing tree’ inside the home where residents can hang their written wishes. Our team then pulls out the stops to make these wishes happen. Individual residents do sponsored walks to raise money for charity, have taken up engraving and even been on the panel of judges for the Care UK Chef of the Year competition. Whatever your loved one wants to do, we’ll support them to do it.
Delicious food every day
Our chef-led catering team understands the importance of eating and drinking well in older age. They serve up tasty and nutritious menus and snacks and cater for all tastes, diets and cultural requirements. We also believe in making food fun, with special themed meals and treats for annual events, birthday celebrations and national days.
Meal times are a great social event, and we even invite older people from the local community to Ferndown Manor for lunch on a regular basis. It’s our way of supporting our residents – as well as older people living locally – to make new friends and stay connected to the local community.
Ferndown Manor has an active Facebook page, with updates and photos of the latest goings-on at the home. You can ‘like’ the page to stay in touch with what residents and the team are doing.
