Resident Joyce Ireland and her husband Alec celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary at with a special meal at Whitebourne.
They enjoyed an intimate three course meal with champagne and a celebration cake and were presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the residents and staff.
Joyce and Alec met in Bromley at a Christian meeting. ‘It was love at first sight’ said Alec and after he walked her home the only way to say goodbye was to kiss her.
They were engaged for four years and got married on the 15 July 1950. Alec said that Joyce looked beautiful on her wedding day. For their honeymoon they spent a week in Jersey, getting there by ship from Southampton.
