Treatment Centre takes to the road!

Company news

Southampton Treatment Centre has developed a partnership with an Isle of Wight taxi firm to raise awareness of the centre and encourage patients from the Island to travel to Southampton for surgery.

Amar Taxis, who have a fleet of four cars on the Island, now have Southampton Treatment Centre branding on their vehicles and have linked in with the Centre to offer discounted rates to Isle of Wight patients for their travel to the Treatment Centre.

Paula Friend, General Manager at the Treatment Centre is delighted with the new partnership:

“I think Amar Taxis will help raise a lot of awareness of what we can offer patients on the Island.  We understand that although we can offer greatly reduced waiting times for patients in some of the specialties we offer, coming over from the Island means a cost implication for the patient.  Therefore we are happy to reimburse patients for both their return ferry crossing and their taxi to the Treatment Centre once in Southampton.  Coupled with this, Amar Taxis are now offering discounted rates for travel on the Island to the Ferry port, so all in all it’s no more expensive than travelling to their local hospital.”

Des White, Owner of Amar Taxis, said:

“We’re the first taxi firm on the Island to have advertising on their cars so people are really taking notice of the new branding and are asking questions all the time.  I have been impressed with what I have heard about Southampton Treatment Centre and I think it’s important people on the Island know there are options open to them and they don’t have to have their treatment on the Island if they can get it done quicker somewhere else.”
