All go at Forrester Court

Home news

There is always something going on at Forrester Court and Spring was no exception.

There is always something going on at Forrester Court and Spring was no exception.

With the first sunny day of the year residents went out into the home garden for a balloon game.

St Patrick’s day was huge fun with a special party to mark the occasion. It was also our resident PJ’s birthday and a glass or two of Guinness was raised in his honour.

Mothers day saw fathers and carers joining the celebrations which included home-made cards produced during a special group crafts session.

Relatives from Egypt made a special trip to visit our resident MG for his 101st birthday. His birthday wish was for “Long life and prosperity.”

Some residents donned special costumes for our Easter bunnies trail party where friends and relatives joined us for a fun day in the sunshine.

In our efforts to continually improve our care, staff underwent talking mats training which is a technique using special cards to improve communication. The aim is to help residents living with dementia express their needs more easily and do as much as possible for themselves.

Our commitment to staff development is paying dividends as we are nearing Gold Standards Framework Accreditation.

We are always looking for new and interesting activities for our residents and our innovative active living co-ordinators laid on a special indoor market in our Hyde Park Unit’s big lounge. Residents were able to browse around a number of stalls where they negotiated with the traders who were staff and residents.

We also pride ourselves on our programme of day trips and this year saw outings to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the London Aquarium.

We also had a special barbeque to celebrate our 12th anniversary in August with entertainment by favourite performers Beth and Simon.

Entertainment was also laid on in the form of the all girl a cappella group Proof of the Pudding who were joined by special guest, X Factor finalist John Adeleye who performed in Cafe Latte.
