Paddington care home praised by inspectors

A national watchdog has given a care home in Paddington its seal of approval following an unannounced inspection.

Care UK’s Forrester Court, on Cirencester Street off Harrow Road, was awarded an overall ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as part of its two-day evaluation.

The home was assessed across safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership – with all areas being recognised as ‘good’.

The report highlighted Forrester Court’s person-centred approach to care, with team members incorporating their knowledge of residents’ preferences, wishes and cultures into their care plans.

As part of this, inspectors noted the wide range of activities and events on offer, from tai chi and virtual reality experiences to gardening groups and nursery visits.   

They called the atmosphere “cheerful, relaxed and supportive”, while team members at the home were also praised for their kindness by residents and relatives.  

One family member said: “The staff are faultless. They are respectful and considerate to both of us.”

The report put a spotlight on the home’s facilities, which are designed to enable people to live as independently as possible, including a café, activity room and hair and beauty salon.

Inspectors also noted the inclusion of dementia-friendly features to support residents living with the condition, such as historical photographs of the local area to encourage reminiscence and a namaste room to provide sensory care.

Forrester Court provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The home features 113 en-suite bedrooms and has been designed to enable its residents to lead active and fulfilling lives.
