Friends and relatives of people with dementia in the Faversham area are being invited to a regular drop-in and support session at Care UK’s Kingsfield care home in Jubilee Way.
The monthly drop-in service begins on Tuesday 19th June and will be held on the third Tuesday of each month, running between 6pm-7.30pm. There is no need to book. Each month there will be a guest speaker, starting this month with Community Psychiatric Nurse Tracy Beeney.
Organiser and Business Manager Theresa Dark said: “Some residents’ relatives had pointed out that support groups and events for people caring for loved ones with dementia are held during the day and, due to work commitments, they miss out.
“These sessions are designed to provide practical ideas for helping a loved one with dementia, as well as providing a friendly network where everyone understands the emotional and practical issues.
“The sessions will also provide a one-stop shop, with a vast array of information from many specialist organisations so that carers, who may be tired and busy, can easily pick up essential and practical information.”
