Santa joins Jubilee celebrations at Mitchell House

A Santa doll got a Jubilee makeover as part of the celebrations at Mitchell House.

The doll which was donated to Mitchell House really looked the part after a resident clothed him in Union Jacks.

Residents also made union flags out of card which were used to decorate the Brownsea Lounge. Bunting and red, white and blue balloons were also placed in the lounge and around the outside of the building. We also had a memorabilia of the Queen flag which was displayed on the wall.

The Residents helped staff to decorate the wall with pictures of the Royal family and some of the lady residents had their finger nails decorated in red, white and blue.

Residents and their families wearing Jubilee Bowler Hats and waving their Jubilee flags watched the Queen’s Church Service and procession down the Mall before tucking into a wonderful buffet lunch provided by our kitchen staff.

We had two jubilee cakes which were enjoyed by all our residents and families, with a glass of bubbly.

The Town Crier came along and gave a rousing speech and toasted the Queen with Bucks Fizz.


He then joined our home manager and a resident in planting an apple tree, purchased in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee.

Entertainment was provided by a singer who sang old time songs and played the guitar with residents and their families joining in with a
sing-a-long...
