Walk on the Wild Side

Home news

Residents at Pinetum took a walk on the wild side when they were visited by a mobile zoo.

The Animals Takeover zoo saw the residents getting up close to range of animals, from fluffy gerbils and ferrets to a snake, lizard, frog and even a barn owl.

Activities on the day included learning about the animals and saw some residents stroking Jesse the barn owl, while others made friends with Wilfred the python and Milly the giant African millipede.

Activities co-ordinator Adele Elliott said: “All who use the home, from residents to relatives to colleagues, love animal therapy and it really makes a difference to their lives not only on the day but also from reminiscing over all of the photographs taken on the day.”
