We make new friends in the community

Home news

St Vincent’s House has enjoyed a number of visits from some of the younger members of the community recently and they have made quite an impact on everyone.

The home had two visits from a group of 16-year-old pupils from The Challenge Network, whose aim is to connect and inspire people to strengthen their communities.

During their first afternoon visit, the group spent time throughout the home getting to know residents and the team and finding out about their activities and interests. In the second visit, they performed a drama created out of stories told to them by  residents during their previous visit.

Activities coordinator Rita Matusediciute said: “It was emotional but fun, and we all had a wonderful time with this great group of young, committed students. They have promised to come back and we are all looking forward to their next visit.”

We also received a visit from girls from 1st Ethical Charitable Trust. They made cakes for everyone and charmed residents and the team alike. Rita said: “They were a lovely group of young ladies and the residents enjoyed talking to them as well as enjoying the delicious cakes they baked for us. I was delighted to hear that they will now be visiting us on a monthly basis.”
