We partied ‘til the sun went down

Company news

This year’s International Day at Lennox House was another soar-away success, with partying in the garden until dusk and 26 nationalities represented in our celebrations.

We love our multi-cultural home and take every opportunity we can to celebrate our diversity, so each year we set aside a day where we can all come together and share our cultures.

Manager Florence Clarke said: “What a truly wonderful day it was. It started at 10am and people would only leave the garden as it became dusk as they were having so much fun!

“Our guests included representatives from the Dominican Embassy and St Kitts Embassy, who accepted the invitation to meet residents and colleagues from these countries, and we also received many other letters from other embassies wishing us good luck for the day.

“We had food and drink from Nigeria, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ghana, England, Ireland and many more. We were also entertained with dance from India, Dominica, the Philippines and Nigeria.”

The home was a riot of colour as our activities coordinators had printed off the flags from the 26 nations representing our residents and team members and they created one big flag incorporating every single flag.

Florence said: “It just goes to show that nations can live in perfect harmony – at least in Islington. Everyone had a wonderful day sharing food and memories about their childhoods around the world.”
