Ventress Hall will continue to work in partnership with The Rotary Club and other local businesses in Darlington in 2014, forming the ‘High Grow Darlow’ organisation. The organisers have formed the project Incredible Edibles, where vegetables and herbs are grown in town centre sites and offered to the public for free.
Judy Wray, Home Manager attended a meeting with the other local businesses groups in January to discuss how to push the project in 2014 and increase the scope of the project, with the plan to grow the project by five times in the forthcoming year.
Ventress Hall will contribute to the local community in Darlington by growing fruit, vegetables and herbs. The aim is encourage healthy eating and educate people on the benefits of doing so in Darlington. Once the produce has been grown and is ready to eat, the local community are able to help themselves to produce.
Judy Wray, Home Manager said: “It’s very important to me, the residents and their families. We all love watering the plants, weeding and watching the garden grow. It is nice to give something back to the community. This year we would like to get raised boxes, allowing people in wheelchairs to access the garden and help too”.
