Patients at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre to give feedback to Healthwatch

Patients visiting Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre as well as inpatients at the centre will have the chance to offer feedback on their experience when Healthwatch visits between Monday 28 April and Friday 2 May.

Tanya Nolan, from Healthwatch Derbyshire, will speak to patients, both in outpatients and on the ward, to gather independent feedback on patients’ experiences of the Chesterfield centre, which will then be shared with Care UK and with the Hardwick Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Tanya, who is the community involvement worker for North East Derbyshire and Bolsover, said: “Whether it's improving them today or helping to shape them for tomorrow, Healthwatch is all about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of local services - not just people who use them, but anyone who might need to in future.

“I am very much looking forward to meeting the team at the treatment centre and hearing the views of the patients. By gauging people’s opinions we can help commissioners understand how people feel about a service and also help them to shape the future of services in the county and beyond.”

As well as asking patients their views on the care and treatment, food and cleanliness, Tanya will be looking at their views on the transportation offered and asking if the centre meets their expectations. She also hopes to offer patients who have undergone surgery a six-month follow-up questionnaire to measure the service and the effect it has had on their health and wellbeing.

Martin Page, the hospital’s director, said: “We welcome Tanya’s visit and we look forward to reading her report. We have always actively sought feedback from our patients and our surveys consistently show satisfaction scores of 96 per cent and over.

“We have a long established patients’ forum who meet regularly with managers to share ideas about how we can improve and develop our services, as well as being a way of highlighting the best practice within areas of the centre that we can share across the units.”
