People of Newbury Invited to Find Out More about Planning for the Future

Home news

Care UK, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of health and social care services, is inviting people in Newbury to find out more about ‘planning care for the future’ this Thursday (31st July) from 11:30am at the new Winchcombe Place care home on Maple Crescent.

The team at Winchcombe Place is joining forces with Andrew Page, financial planner at Ashcourt Rowan, together with Linda Blay and Melissa Maple from Hedges Law for a free information seminar.  Andrew will be sharing his knowledge and providing practical guidance on funding long term care – whether caring for someone in their own home or looking at care homes.  Linda and Melissa will also cover the subjects of wills and power of attorney, and visitors will then have the opportunity to ask their own questions.

Home Manager, Michelle Sides, explained why she is opening the doors to Winchcombe Place for the planning care for the future event. “At Care UK, we understand how confusing and worrying it can be for families who are looking at future care for their loved ones.  By hosting a free information session, we can open up direct access to trusted professionals who can clearly explain the options when it comes to funding care, and who can also help demystify related complex legal matters.

“After the seminar there will be a question and answer session, and visitors will also be free to talk to other people affected by the same issues and experiences over refreshments.  We hope people in Newbury will take the opportunity to join us for what promises to be a very useful and insightful event for the community.”

Those who attend the free information seminar at Winchcombe Place can also pick up a copy of Care UK’s recently published ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’ – a guide which helps friends and relatives to overcome the challenges they may face in having conversations and general interactions with those living with dementia.

Compiled by professional carers, families affected by dementia, and specialists in the field, ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’ highlights the essential role of regular contact and verbal and non-verbal communication for people living with dementia in order to lead more enjoyable and fulfilling lives.

For more information or to book a space at the ‘planning care for the future’ event, please call Winchcombe Place Customer Relations Manager, Sacha Liddiard on 01635 592 216 or email sacha.liddiard@careuk.com.
