Revised date for Cleves Place care home to open

Home news

Residents living at Place Court care home in Haverhill, and their relatives, have been told that there will be a short delay to their planned move into the brand new Cleves Place home on Millfield Way.

The move had been pencilled in for January but is now expected to take place in March.  Managers from Care UK who are responsible for the care provided at Place Court have pledged to ensure that the facilities and level of support provided to residents at the old home will continue at its usual high standard until everyone moves to Cleves Place.

Regional operations director Rachel Gilbert said: “As a result of lessons learnt from opening our first Suffolk home in Mildenhall, Care UK, in conjunction with people from CQC and Suffolk County Council, decided to take a short pause before opening Britten Court home in Lowestoft to make sure that everything was 100% ready. As a result of this pause, the final group of Britten Court residents will now not move to their new home until January.  A knock-on effect of this is that the opening of Cleves Place will now take place in March instead of January as originally planned.

This is because every time a new home opens in Suffolk, a team of senior support managers assist their local colleagues to ensure everything goes smoothly and that residents are safely transferred and comfortably settled in their new home. With Britten Court opening in January, these managers wouldn’t be available to support the move to Cleves Place at the same time.”

At the time of writing, the dates for residents to move to other new homes due to open next year including those in Ipswich and Stowmarket are unchanged.
