Residents look forward to moving into their new Stowmarket care home

Home news

A new care home providing residential, nursing and dementia care will open in the Cedars Park area of Stowmarket in April, when residents from Wade House care home in Stowmarket will begin a careful move-in process into Cedrus House, one of ten new Care UK homes to open across Suffolk.

Cedrus House has an adjacent day club, which will provide flexible day and respite care for older people living locally. The care home has 70 ensuite bedrooms, which are arranged in six suites, each with a lounge and dining room to create smaller community environments within the home.

The residents at Wade House have been closely involved in the development of the new Cedrus House since construction began in February 2014 and have been involved in selecting the suite names through a community competition. The chosen suite names are all local Suffolk towns and villages - Needham, Combs, Stowupland, Haughley, Finborough and Mendlesham. The competition runner-up was 7-year-old Cedars Park Community Primary School pupil Amelie Ling, who was presented with a prize for her suggestion of gemstone names.

The home manager at Cedrus House, Michelle Webster, was appointed several months ago and has been involved with recruiting and training the Cedrus House care home and day club teams, as well as getting to know the residents and their relatives. She said: “I have been getting to know the residents and their relatives well over the past few months, with close consultations to ensure all their needs and wishes are met throughout the move process.

“We are all excited to move into the new home and we are looking forward to settling in.”

Cedrus House is off Creeting Road in Cedars Park, Stowmarket. For more information about the home visit careuk.com/cedrus-house or call 0333 321 1987.
