On Thursday 26th March, Kingsfield care home in Faversham was transformed into a 1940s tea room for both family and residents to enjoy. Staff at the care home got stuck into the theme and dressed in 1940s fashion for the afternoon.
The tea was served from old fashioned pots using tea leaves, strainers and bone china tea cups. The atmosphere bought back so many memories for residents and sparked many conversations.
1940s music was also being played all afternoon – everyone was singing along. The staff used bunting, posters and table cloths to decorate the activities room, giving it a real 1940s feel.
Nichole Davison, Kingsfield’s activities coordinator said “It was great fun to organise and be a part of this event. We paid attention to all of the little detail, even down to selecting the tea-cups.
“The residents could really enjoy themselves. Conversations and laughter flowed all afternoon and all in all it was a very successful event.”
