Deanna, from Gloucestershire, has taken to the helm of the 86-strong team at Sandfields, with responsibility for the day to day running of the care home. Deanna joined Care UK in April 2014 and worked at the Scarlet House care home in Stroud before moving to Sandfields.
Having qualified as a nurse over 30 years ago, and with a registered managers award (RMA) and a master’s degree in management, Deanna has built up extensive experience in the care sector, including a six year stint as a general manager of a care home.
She has also won a number of awards, including Care Home of the Year (2008) in the Caring Magazine Awards and Corporate Care Home Manager, South West region (2012) in the Great South West Care Awards.
Commenting on her new position, Deanna said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as home manager for Sandfields and I am excited to be heading up a team of committed and compassionate individuals on behalf of Care UK.
“I strongly believe the residents should be the focus of the home and at the centre of everything we do – Sandfields is their home and the Care UK team are guests within it. I will be leading by example in ensuring the residents continue to lead active and fulfilling lives, and I look forward to getting to know them and their families.”
Daniel Turner, regional director at Care UK, said: “Deanna’s appointment strengthens the team here at Sandfields, and we are all very pleased to have her on board. This is one of Care UK’s most popular homes and, while every detail has been considered to provide the highest standards of care, having the right people working in the home is key to the overall experience of residents.
“Deanna is a highly experienced, skilled individual and she has had a successful track record in the care sector to date. I know Deanna will play an important part in driving standards to ensure Sandfields builds on its reputation for quality, person-centred care.”
Situated on St George’s Road, the purpose-built Sandfields care home offers a range of services from short term respite care to residential and specialist dementia care.
