The annual Care UK awards took place at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire on Thursday 19th November. The awards are a celebration of the great work, compassion and dedication of the staff at Care UK. With 114 homes across the UK, we support more than 7,000 people to continue living active and independent lives in warm, safe and comfortable surroundings. This year, more than 700 nominations were received across 17 categories in the Care UK awards.
Andrew Knight, Residential Care Services managing director, said: “A huge congratulations to all our winners and a big well done to everybody that had been nominated, we really appreciate the great job you’re doing.”
Home manager Kirsten Bell and the team at Mowat Court have worked tirelessly to improve the service after some challenging times. Kirsten has turned the home around through driving quality and building a great care team.
At a visit by the Care Quality Commission, inspectors found that the home in Macclesfield meets the Government’s five standards of quality and safety which are:
• Treating people with respect and involving them in their care
• Providing care, treatment and support that meets people's needs
• Caring for people safely and protecting them from harm
• Staffing
• Quality and suitability of management
The recent CQC inspection also noted that during the inspection the atmosphere in the home was found to be welcoming and friendly. Observation of practice and discussion with staff demonstrated an understanding of people's needs and feedback from residents and relatives spoken with were positive in relation to the service they received.
Mowat Court Home Manager Kirsten Bell said “Having worked as Home Manager at Mowat Court for 21 months I am incredibly proud of the way the care team have worked alongside me to improve the standard of care for our residents. By focusing on quality and creating the right care team we will continue to strive to find ways to enrich the lives of the residents who live at Mowat Court.”
