Trio of appointments strengthen team at Kidderminster care home

Home news

Brook Court care home in Kidderminster has welcomed three new members of the team as Joanne Gill takes on the role of home manager, Simon Maskell joins the team as customer relations manager and Sue Meloa as activities co-ordinator.

Joanne, from Worcester, has now taken to the helm of the 104 strong team at Brook Court, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the care home. Joanne has completed the Registered Managers Award, as well as a course in dementia care mapping, which focuses on establishing person-centred care for people with dementia. Having also previously worked in as a nursing home manager and residential manager, Joanne brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role.

Speaking about her new position, Joanne said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as home manager for Brook Court and I am excited to be heading up a team of committed and compassionate individuals on behalf of Care UK.

“I am also really pleased to have Simon and Sue on board. We know that having the right people working at the home is key to the overall experience the residents have at Brook Court. Simon will play an important part in driving standards while also building the reputation of the home, while Sue will ensure interesting activities take place on a daily basis.”

Simon, from Worcester, joins Brook Court to provide the all-important link between prospective residents, their friends and families, and the care home. Simon will also act as lynchpin between the home and the local community, forging relationships with key individuals, groups and agencies.

Having worked as a relationship manager in the corporate banking industry for five years, Simon brings a vast amount of customer service experience and a person-centred approach to his new role.

Simon said: “I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to take on such an exciting role at Brook Court. I enjoy working with people to build relationships and understand their needs, so I am able to provide clear support and guidance. I am proud to show people around Brook Court – to give them a chance to see the smiling residents and show what a happy place the care home is.”

Sue, from Stourport-on-Severn, originally joined Care UK in February as part of the catering team, but Sue soon realised that she had a natural talent for engaging with the residents and that the best part of her day was spending time with them. Sue has now joined the team at Brook Court as activities coordinator.

Sue commented: “I spend each day making residents happy, aiming to deliver memorable moments for them and ensure everyone is included in activities that they enjoy.”

Situated on Oldnall Road, Brook Court is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.  Designed to enable its residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
