Chalfont Court care home invites people in Rickmansworth to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Chalfont Court care home in Rickmansworth is inviting local people to visit the home on Uxbridge Road on Saturday 18th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 12pm until 6pm, the team at Chalfont Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities. 

There will be a carnival fiesta at Chalfont Court with the event themed around the 2016 Rio Olympics.  There will be entertainment and fun games throughout the afternoon.  Visitors can try their luck at a raffle; and there will be stalls selling homemade cakes, crafts and bric-a-brac. Residents and visitors will also be able to enjoy a barbeque from 2pm. 

Linda Taylor, home manager at Chalfont Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.  

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Chalfont Court has to offer. 

“We have got a fun day of activities planned, and we are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of Rickmansworth to be a part of it.” 

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Chalfont Court will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
