Mildenhall community invited to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Mildenhall Lodge will be opening its doors to welcome the community on Friday 17th June, 2pm to 4.30pm, in celebration of Care Home Open Day.

The national day aims to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities, and to develop relationships across the generations. 

The event at Mildenhall Lodge will be one of thousands taking place across the UK to help challenge perceptions about the care environment and to show what day-to-day life is like for residents. In the spirit of the Rio de Janeiro games this summer, Mildenhall Lodge colleagues and residents have planned a carnival themed party with live music and a cocktail bar. The event is free to attend and all are welcome.

Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We are really looking forward to taking part in this year’s Care Home Open Day and to sharing with the community what life is like at Mildenhall Lodge. Visitors can expect a warm welcome at our fun event for all the family.”

Care Home Open Day is also an opportunity for visitors to meet the Mildenhall Lodge team and pick up copies of Care UK’s free guides which are full of practical hints and tips to support family carers and their loved ones living with dementia. These include ‘Listen, talk, connect’, ‘As Easy as ABC’, ‘Good to Go’ and the new ‘Eating as we age’ guide which provides practical tips and recipe ideas for eating well in older age.
