The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Care UK’s Foxbridge House care home on Sevenoaks Road an overall ‘good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection.
To assess service standards at Foxbridge House, the CQC’s inspector spoke with team members, residents and their visiting relatives on the day of the inspection. They also reviewed the records and procedures already in place at the care home.
The inspectors highlighted how the Care UK team treated residents with respect and dignity and were supported to maintain relationships with relatives and friends. It was also observed that the care team was knowledgeable about people’s needs and residents were supported appropriately to meet their identified needs. One member of the care team commented: "It is essential not to forget that care giving is a very private thing, and so I am careful about making sure residents are comfortable with what I am doing."
The report highlighted that residents said they felt safe and were treated well at Foxbridge House. One resident said: "I'm safe and the staff are very good here, all of them." A visiting relative also commented: “My loved one is very safe here and there always seems to be plenty of staff around to help him."
Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: “We strive to create a welcoming home from home at Foxbridge House and I’m so pleased our efforts have been recognised by the CQC’s inspectors. Everyone here works incredibly hard to support residents with compassionate, person-centred care, and to be rated ‘good’ shows just how committed the team is to making a positive difference to resident’s lives each and every day.
“I’m extremely proud of our team and I would like to take say thank you for their hard work and dedication, which I know is also greatly appreciated by residents and their families.”
Inspectors further noted that the residents’ needs for stimulation and social interaction were met by the Care UK team, with regular opportunities to take part in community-based events that reflected their interests. Foxbridge House also has access to a mini-bus for two weeks each month that visits a schedule of places including; parks, historic properties and shopping centres.
