Builders of the future visit Harrow construction site

Company news

Local school children donned their high-vis vests to enjoy a tour round Harrow’s newest care home.

Students from St George's Catholic Primary School were welcomed to the Care UK site on Sudbury Hill by specialist constructors and developers, Castleoak.

The 60 five and six year olds were given a guided tour of the site, and enjoyed learning about site safety and the tools and equipment involved in building the four-storey care home.

The £7.6 million purpose-built care home which will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, and short-term respite care for up to 80 older people in Harrow, is due to open later this year.

Justin Daley, construction project manager for Care UK, said: “We were delighted to welcome St George's Catholic Primary School to the site, as it gave the children a first-hand experience of a working building site and the processes involved in creating a home of this size and scale.”

Alun Williams, construction manager at Castleoak, added: “The site visit was a great way to engage with the little builders of the future here in Harrow. We hope the children enjoyed spending their day as real life Bob the Builders and learning about site safety!”

The new four-storey care home, which will feature 80 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and will include its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
