The team at Scarlet House opened the doors to the care home for the family-friendly event organised in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Residents and visitors enjoyed summer refreshments in the home’s gardens including ice cream and fresh strawberries all prepared by head chef, Claire Taylor. Guests were also treated to live music from the Avening Silver Band.
The Care UK team also raised nearly £100 for the Alzheimer’s Society by hosting a homemade cupcake sale.
Pyela Mwale, home manager at Scarlet House, said: ““We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day with the local community. The event was a brilliant opportunity to break down preconceptions about care home life and showcase the warm and welcoming care environment here at Scarlet House.
“This year’s event was a great success, and everyone really enjoyed being out in the sunshine for the celebration. We look forward to welcoming the people of Stroud to join us again very soon.”
