On Friday 23rd March, from 12.30pm-2.30pm, Cumberland is offering expert advice to the community. Chris Jualo, healthcare assistant and moving and handling instructor, will be visiting the home to offer guidance and information on safely moving and assisting with older people.
As well as discussing the common risks involved when moving an older person, Chris will also be on hand to provide expert advice on how to create safer environments for older people, as well as discussing how loved ones can assist with movement in a way that gives greater comfort and dignity.
After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Cumberland and take a tour of the care home.
Cumberland home manager, Tamba Lamina, said: “Here at Cumberland, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. Moving and assisting older people to get about in the home is very important to the team, and to the wellbeing of residents.
“It is imperative we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Cumberland for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
