Councillor and a local hero to officially open Pear Tree Court

Home news

Pear Tree Court is inviting the local community to attend its grand launch event where The Chairman of East Hampshire, Councillor Lynn Evans, will help to officially open the home.

On Thursday 19th April, from 2pm-4pm, local people are invited to visit Pear Tree Court to join in the celebrations. The day will be themed around local heroes throughout history, and visitors are encouraged to dress as their icons, from firemen of the 1920s to nurses of the 40s.

With the first residents having moved in to Pear Tree Court in February, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening - with a little help from some special guests.

Councillor Lynn Evans will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the care home, alongside first resident, Charlie Payne, and the winner of Pear Tree Court’s recent ‘Rewarding Resident’ competition, who will be announced to the public at the event.

Allen Parton, founder and vice-chairman of local charity Hounds for Heroes, will also be in attendance at the opening. Hounds for Heroes is a charity that provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of the UK Armed Forces and Emergency Services.

After the official proceedings, there will be fun for all the family with cake decorating, jewellery making, and the chance to make some furry friends with the Millers Ark Petting Zoo. There will also be an opportunity to enjoy musical performances from a brass band and a 1940s singer, to get everyone into the party spirit.

Residents and guests will be able to enjoy arts and crafts with Age Concern, WI and others. A local historian will also be on hand to provide a fascinating talk onthe history of the town, and there will be aspecial performance from one of the residents’ favourite pianists.

Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Pear Tree Court and take a tour of the care home.

Pear Tree Court home manager, Raymond Arnold, said: “Since we opened the doors to Pear Tree Court, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community.  We would therefore like to invite the people of Hordean to be part of our official opening celebrations.

“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
