The team at Heather View welcomed the people of Crowboroughto enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The home marked the occasion by throwing a royal-inspired party in honour of the Queen’s 92nd birthday. The team put on a delightful Buckingham Palace garden party, with traditional afternoon tea available for guests to enjoy, complete with a delicious homemade birthday cake for the Queen.
Guests enjoyed live entertainment from local harmonic duo, the Victory Vs, who put on a special performance of everyone’s favourite songs through the ages. Royal expert Nigel Dawson was also on hand to give a fascinating talk all about the Queen, including showing pictures and playing the Queen’s favourite tunes.
Natasha King, home manager at Heather View, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day at Heather View – the residents all really enjoyed marking the Queen’s birthday with a garden party and afternoon tea. The entertainment was brilliant and it was great to see many of our residents up on their feet having a dance.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so it was wonderful to see so many of our neighbours come along to celebrate. We would like to say a big thank you to Nigel Dawson and the Victory Vs, as well as the people of Crowborough, for making the day so special.”
