Join Beech Hurst for a royal celebration this Care Home Open Day

Home news

Beech Hurst is inviting local people to visit the home to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

On Friday 20th April, from 2pm-5pm, the team at Beech Hurst will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

To commemorate the Queen’s 92nd birthday, Beech Hurst has organised a royal-inspired party to celebrate the open day. With homemade crowns at the ready, visitors can look forward to celebrating the Queen turning 92 with a royal tea party extravaganza. On top of outdoor games, including giant noughts and crosses, inflatable hoopla and a coconut shy, entertainment will include a Great British ‘Beech Hurst’ Bake Off, judged by Ellen, a resident at Beech Hurst who used to cook for the Queen herself, teatime entertainment from local singer Louise Ratcliffe from 2pm and Beech Hurst’s very own dog show at 4.15pm. The canine contest will be judged by resident Evelyn, who has fostered nearly 100 dogs in her lifetime – and it’s her birthday too!

Fiona Wiederkehr, home manager at Beech Hurst, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents by building lasting relationships with the local community that spans the generations.

“We cannot wait to open our doors to showcase everything Beech Hurst has to offer, and the difference care homes can make to peoples’ lives and their wellbeing. Residents have enjoyed creating homemade crowns ahead of the royal celebration, and we look forward to welcoming the people of Hayward Heath for what promises to be a fun-filled day.”
