On Saturday 21st April, from 12 noon-4pm, the team at Mildenhall Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
The team have organised a Commonwealth themed party to celebrate the open day, and visitors can look forward to experiencing different cultures through food, dress and entertainment. There will be the opportunity to learn to dress in sari, get a henna tattoo and enjoy some traditional Bollywood dancing.
There will also be a number of stalls at the event and the local police cadets will be visiting the home, and from 1pm there will be musical performances from local acts, Jacen Bruce, Nick Lowe and Lana, to get everyone into the party spirit.
Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We’ve already had a brilliant start to the year at Mildenhall Lodge having been named as ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and our Care Home Open Day celebrations are set to be a real highlight.
“We have so much planned and the residents are excited to decorate the home with their homemade bunting, inspired by countries of the Commonwealth. We cannot wait to open our doors for this special celebration.”
