The team at Paisley Court welcomed local people to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The team organised a day of Commonwealth-inspired celebrations, which included an Australian-style barbecue and the home’s very own mini-Commonwealth games, with events including table tennis, lawn bowls, and beach volleyball.
Residents and visitors were also able to try their luck on a raffle and a tombola and browse a number of stalls at the event.
Amanda Ashton, home manager at Paisley Court, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating Care Home Open Day with a Commonwealth twist. The residents all really enjoyed experiencing different aspects of the Commonwealth, from taking part in the games, to trying the Australian barbecue.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so we were delighted to have been joined by so many of our neighbours who helped make the day extra special.”
