The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Barbara Fitzsimon, joined residents, 93-year-old Lord Ted Graham, and 91-year-old Dorothy Stainforth, to officially cut the ribbon on a new suite at Knebworth.
The team took Councillor Fitzsimon on a tour of Maple Suite – which offers quality nursing care for 17 older people in the area. She also spent time chatting with the residents and their families.
The occasion gave members of the community the opportunity to view the facilities on offer at Knebworth, including beautiful gardens and spacious lounge areas.
Home manager at Knebworth, Vera Moreira-Henocq, said: “Our nursing suite will enable us to extend our services further and help us to care for more people in the local area.
“Having Councillor Barbara Fitzsimon open the suite was an honour, and the residents loved speaking with her about their lives here at Knebworth. It was also great to see so many people from the local community join us to celebrate and enjoy a memorable afternoon.
“We have worked hard to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere here at Knebworth over the last five years, and we look forward to continuing this into our new nursing suite.
“It was a fantastic occasion and I’d like to thank Councillor Fitzsimon, Lord Ted, Dorothy and our regional director, Bernard Mawoyo, for helping us to mark the special day.”
