On Tuesday 17th July, from 6pm-7pm the team will open the doors to the care home on Hogshill Lane for its free dementia awareness event.
Quality manager Suzanne Mumford, from Care UK, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is, how memories are lost, the language changes that can take place, and useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers. Suzanne will offer positive approaches and help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia.
After the event, those who attend will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Tiltwood and take a tour of the care home.
Tiltwood home manager, Emma Fox, said: “We know how challenging looking after a friend or relative living with dementia can be. It’s natural to feel confused about how to behave, and our event aims to offer professional knowledge and insight to those who need it – as well as provide a hub for shared experiences.
“We want the people of Cobham to know they’re not alone, and we’re here to offer support. We look forward to welcoming them to the home for an inspiring evening of information and guidance.”
“For those looking for more information on caring for a loved one with dementia, our new guide, A helping hand, is available at the home and can offer further support and guidance.”
