Tor-Na-Dee gets toes tapping during arty open day

There were celebrations all round when the team at Tor-Na-Dee invited the local community in for a day of art-themed fun and games.

The team at Tor-Na-Dee welcomed local people to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.   

This year’s theme celebrated the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

On the day, residents and visitors tapped their toes to live entertainment from Jack McPherson, and enjoyed an art exhibition, which showcased residents’ paintings.

As part of a nationwide competition for all Care UK homes, Tor-Na-Dee also developed a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which was showcased at the event.

Maureen Barrett, home manager at Tor-Na-Dee, said: “Care Home Open Day is a wonderful opportunity for our home to connect with the local community and show what it’s really like to live in a care home. We all had a brilliant time welcoming people from Aberdeen into Tor-Na-Dee.

“The residents enjoyed showcasing their artistic skills to the visitors and enjoyed dancing to live entertainment from Jack McPherson. We can’t wait to invite everyone back very soon.”
