Chelmsford care home thanks local community for their support

Home news

Chelmsford care home thanks local community for their supportA care home in Chelmsford has thanked those who have gone above and beyond to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from members of the community to its dedicated team.

Care UK’s Manor Lodge, on Manor Road, has expressed its gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Chelmsford over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Manor Lodge has been inundated with support, receiving letters from youngsters at the Little Edi Foundation, and a written prayer from the St Vincent de Paul Society. Team members also received laundry bags, visors, hats, scrubs, and hairbands from Chelmsford Community Group, William De Ferrers School and Dunelm, to help the team remain safe and comfortable while at work.

Handmade items were also created by Mandie, whose son visited Manor Lodge last year as part of The Archie Project, an intergenerational initiative that pairs care homes with primary schools. Not wanting residents to miss out, he ensured Mandie also sent along some sweets for his older friends to enjoy.

Nina Ambrose and Richard Kruszewski, relatives of residents at Manor Lodge, even joined the care home team as volunteers. Both Nina and Richard provided helpful support for the activities team, helping to organise fun, engaging activities for residents.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday or keeping the morale up through creative activities, team members at Manor Lodge have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Juliana Miles, home manager at Manor Lodge, said: “We’re overwhelmed with all the support we have received and the acts of kindness we’ve witnessed, whether they’ve come from outside or inside the home.

“The whole team has worked hard to make sure residents continue living fulfilling lives throughout the pandemic, but two names especially come to mind. Nina and Richard have been fantastic supporting the activities team, and I couldn’t be prouder to have been able to count them as part of our team.

“Thank you Nina and Richard, and thank you to everyone in our team and the community for your support and your generosity.”

Manor Lodge is care home designed to deliver the very best standards of care, and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home offers a range of services including residential care, specialist dementia care and respite care.
