Covid-19 vaccinations rolled out Godalming care homes

Home news

Team members and residents at two Godalming care homes have been celebrating after they became one of the first homes in the area to receive Covid-19 vaccinations for almost everyone living and working in the home.

With the support of Dr Cerullo from The Mill Practice, NHS Surrey Heartlands CCG, Mill View Surgery and Binscombe Medical Centre the vast majority of residents at Care UK’s Jubilee House, on Pound Lane, and Broadwater Lodge, on Summers Road, were given the first dose of the vaccination.

One of the first in the queue for the vaccination was 87-year-old Paula Hardwick, a resident at Jubilee House, who said: “I’m really glad to have had the vaccine!”

Malgo Wcislo, Home Manager at Jubilee House, said: “We were so pleased that residents in our home have had the vaccination. I would like to offer my thanks to the NHS team at NHS Surrey Heartlands CCG, The Mill Practice, Mill View Surgery and Binscombe Medical Centre. They were incredibly efficient, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly, which was much appreciated.

Angela Bookham, Home Manager at Broadwater Lodge, said: “This is the first step towards getting back to normal, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the year. We’re looking forward to receiving our second dose of the vaccine as soon as we’re able.”

Care UK is keen to stress that the vaccine doesn’t provide full protection against the virus so its teams will continue to follow their stringent infection control measures including regular deep cleaning, regular testing, the use of masks and other PPE, social distancing, air purifiers and temperature checks to keep everyone safe.

Jubilee House and Broadwater Lodge have been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. Both homes provide full-time residential care, dementia care and respite care, with Jubilee House also providing nursing care.
