New leadership team announced at Basingstoke care home

A new luxury care home in Basingstoke has appointed its senior team and announcing the opening of its marketing suite.

With over 10 years’ experience in the care sector Home Manager Dil Perera will lead the team at Care UK’s Dashwood Manor, on Shortwoodcopse Lane, when it opens in September this year.

 

In addition to a host of qualifications in social care, leadership and management training, including NVQ level 7 in Health and Social care as well as a MSc in Human Resources Management, Dil has a passion for care, and being kind and patient – skills that are essential in a home manager. 

Dil has wasted no time in getting started and announced the opening of the marketing suite which is already arranging show rounds. The suite enables prospective residents and their families the opportunity to view a number of rooms in the home, as we all as finding out more about the nursing, residential and dementia care on offer. It’s also a great opportunity to find out what day-to-day life will look like for residents when they begin to move in later this year. 

Dil said: “I am so pleased to be the first home manager at Dashwood Manor. When I heard about Care UK and its values, I knew their person-centred care ethos aligned with my own and that this home was the one for me. 

“Over the years, I’ve learnt that being a home manager is all about balance – being approachable is key to connect with families, but it’s also important to be a good leader to ensure the team achieves its goals every day. I love seeing the smiles on residents and relatives’ faces and knowing we’re delivering the highest standards of care. I look forward to the day we open the doors in September”

Dil will have the support of Leahanne Wilkinson, who will take on the role of Customer Relations Manager at the home. Previously a home manager at a smaller home that supported 16 adults, Leahanne has now worked for Care UK for 3 years and supported the opening of another nearby home, Mountbatten Grange, in 2018.

Speaking about her role, Leahanne said: “I’m excited to be a part of another new care home opening here in Basingstoke.

 “I’m often the very first people that a family member contacts as they begin to look for a care home for a loved one. As Customer Relations Manager, I am here to listen and empathise, and to support them to make the right decision for them and their loved one – so I’m looking forward to meeting local people and doing just that.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open later this year, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. Luxury facilities will include a café, hair and beauty salon, cinema and bar, and stunning gardens.
