A national care watchdog has given a West Drayton care home its seal of approval, with inspectors commending the home’s person-centred approach and warm and friendly atmosphere.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded Care UK’s Franklin House, on The Green, a ‘good’ rating overall and in all five categories, including being safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive, following their latest inspection.
Inspectors praised the range of activities on offer, tailored to residents’ needs and preferences and led by the home’s dedicated lifestyle lead. In addition to having an extensive programme of outdoor events and trips, the team also goes above and beyond to make sure residents have the most fulfilling life possible at the home. Special mention was made of the home’s ‘Wishing Tree’ initiative, where residents make a wish to do something they have always wanted to do, or would like to experience so the home team can grant it.
The report praised the layout of the home, purpose-built to support residents living with dementia. Inspectors noted several adaptations to help maintain residents’ independence, including memory boxes in bedrooms and reminiscence areas, and plenty of areas where sensory needs could be met to support those living with dementia.
Inspectors were also impressed with the home’s strong links and partnerships with healthcare professionals within the community, working closely to support one another to ensure the best care for each resident as individuals.
Mathew V Mathew, Home Manager at Franklin House, said: “We’re delighted to have received such a positive rating from the CQC, and it’s incredibly heartening to read the kind words about our home and the dedicated team behind it.
“Our mission has always been to support residents in living rich, meaningful lives, while delivering exceptional, person-centred care. That’s why we invest so much energy into our activities and events; they’re a vital part of creating not just a high standard of care, but a vibrant and joyful environment. It’s wonderful to see this reflected in the report.
“I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Franklin House, from our nurses and unit leads to our chefs, gardeners and beyond, for helping make this a place residents truly feel proud to call home.”
Franklin House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite care.
