Erdington care home rolls up its sleeves to host community litter-picking initiative

Team members and residents at a new care home in Erdington are inviting members of the community to join them to tackle litter in the local area.

Care UK’s Elderflower Grange, on Orphanage Road, will be hosting a regular community litter picking group, bringing together residents, team members and local people to help keep the area clean, welcoming and litter-free.

As part of the initiative, team members and residents volunteer their time to head out into the neighbourhood and collect litter, helping to keep Erdington looking its best for all to enjoy.

Participants are welcome to unwind in the home’s café and meet its team to learn more about life at Elderflower Grange after the litter pick.

Jag Singh, Home Manager at Elderflower Grange, said: “We’re committed to making our local area a cleaner, greener and more enjoyable place to live. Initiatives like this also give residents an opportunity to stay active and connect with members of the community. 

“It’s been great to see the response to the litter picking group so far, but we’d love for even more people to join us at our upcoming sessions. Please get in touch if you are interested. As a new care home in Erdington, we are planning on doing lots of community initiatives like this, including The Dementia Support Circle and intergenerational Lego Club, so keep your eyes peeled!

The Elderflower Grange team is inviting the local community to get involved in its next litter pick, taking place on Friday 25th September at 10am-11am.

Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, Elderflower Grange will provide full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. The home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and include its own hair and beauty salon and The Old Fort bar and cinema.
