Bikers go the extra mile for resident’s wish

When a community pulls together

A resident's wish to reconnect with the mod community he loved sparked an extraordinary response from local scooter and motorbike enthusiasts.

More than 100 riders came together at Meadow Croft care home in Garstang, Lancashire, after the team issued a public appeal to help fulfil the wish of a resident living with dementia to be "surrounded by mods, scooters and bikes" once more.

Without the response from the community, it wouldn't have been possible. Seeing him so happy was just amazing. Many tears were shed. It was just a perfect day.

Jessica RichardsonLifestyle Lead

Jessica Richardson, the home's Lifestyle Manager, told BBC Radio Lancashire she was "so stunned and overwhelmed" by the turnout. Officers from Lancashire Constabulary's motorcycle unit also joined the event.
