Meaningful occupation is about supporting people to continue doing the things they enjoy and using the skills and experiences they have built throughout their lives.
For a group of residents at Perry Manor in Worcester, that meant sharing their love of gardening with local children.
It was a really nice event and lovely that the children got to learn how something as small as a seed can grow into a plant... What I love most about being outdoors is the fresh air and seeing the plants grow.
EdithResident at Perry ManorAs part of National Children's Gardening Week, residents welcomed local children to the home for a special gardening session. Many of the residents are lifelong gardeners, and they were delighted to pass on their knowledge by helping the children plant sunflower seeds and sharing their top tips for growing healthy plants.

My advice to the children was to remember to water the flowers after planting, which is very important. What I love most about being outdoors is the fresh air and seeing the plants grow, except for the weeds of course!”
