Army wife Marie reconnects with the military community

The value of shared experiences

Social isolation can have a significant impact on wellbeing, particularly when people become disconnected from communities that have played an important role in their lives.

Through Care UK's Veteran Friendly Framework, homes support veterans and their families to maintain those connections and build new ones.

It felt wonderful to be back in the company of people who understand army life. Hearing their stories brought back so many happy memories – it truly made my day.

MarieResident at Greenview Hall

At Greenview Hall in Woking, resident Marie shared her wish to reconnect with the military community she had been part of through her husband's Army service. The team arranged a special visit from the Chelsea Pensioners Club and members of the Quick Response Memorial Woodland.

The visit gave Marie the opportunity to reconnect with people who understood her experiences and share many of the memories that shaped her life.
