Abhilash Gopi

Home Manager

Abhilash Gopi

I am passionate about providing meaningful care to older people and ensuring that we make a positive impact on residents’ lives.

I have been a home manager for eight years and have a BSc Hons. in nursing, as well as a level five in health and social care. I chose to join Care UK because of its values and ethos.

In my role, you need to be patient, have good listening and communication skills, and be understanding. Being calm in any situation helps too.

I think my favourite part of the day is the morning. It’s a time when we can decide what to prioritise and how to approach the day.

A lot of moments stand out for me as highlights. I helped achieve an ‘outstanding’ rating for another Care UK home in 2021. I’m also proud to be able to support colleagues and share the knowledge I’ve learned over the years. It’s all about improving care and standards for the better so residents can benefit.

Outside of work, I captain a local cricket team. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my family. My wife is also a nurse, and we have three children so life is wonderful and busy.

Michael Faulkner-Dunkley
Michael Faulkner-Dunkley
Customer Relations Manager

I’ve spent over ten years running my own customer-focused health and wellbeing businesses before moving into a Business Development role within the DevOps tech industry. When the opportunity arose to join Care UK, I was drawn to the company’s strong values and the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives.

In my role, empathy, drive, and relationship-building are key. I enjoy meeting new people, learning their stories and helping families find the right care for their loved ones. Supporting them through what can be a stressful time and ensuring residents receive the best quality of life is incredibly rewarding.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my partner and our dog, travelling, golfing and going to the gym. One of my proudest achievements was helping a client lose over 60 kilos, reverse diabetes and transform her life - a reminder of how the right support can change everything.

Chloe Rodliffe
Chloe Rodliffe
Lifestyle Lead

Hi, I’m Chloe Rodliffe, Lifestyle Lead at Bailey Lodge. I trained in Musical Theatre, completing a BTEC Level 3 and participating in LAMDA exams, and I have been a professional singer for many years. I previously worked as an Activities Assistant in a luxury care home and as a children’s Entertainments Manager.

I love the idea of working for a company who genuinely care for everybody, whether it’s visitors, employees or residents. The values of being Passionate, Caring and Teamwork really speak to me, and I have always heard amazing things about how cared for staff feel at Care UK, which makes the homes so happy, healthy and homely.

To do my role well, I believe you have to be open-minded, kind, empathetic and enthusiastic. Everybody has a different story, so it’s important to get to know residents personally, empower them, and help them feel confident and comfortable being involved in activities and outings. My biggest career highlight to date was supporting a resident in my last home who was really struggling to enjoy living in care. She really warmed up to me and would always request my company. I loved that I was a safe space for her, where she felt listened to.

I love the variety each day brings – from laughing, dancing and celebrating with residents to leading relaxing namaste sessions or simply sharing a hot drink and a chat. Every day that I manage to make someone smile, I am proud. If I can make somebody’s day just a little bit brighter, then I go home with a big smile on my face.

Outside of work, I have a little dog called Phylo, a long-haired chihuahua who is about to be assessed for ‘Pets as Therapy’ so he can bring comfort to our residents and visitors. I am also a professional singer in a local indie band called ‘Eva’s Dream.’

Julie Macsween
Julie Macsween
Head Chef

Hi, I’m Julie, Head Chef at Bailey Lodge. I hold a Diploma in Hotel & Catering within the education and healthcare sector and ran my own catering business for 14 years. Before joining Care UK, I worked as a Head Pastry Chef, and I chose to return to healthcare because it’s a sector I’m truly passionate about.

I’m a strong, dynamic and passionate foodie, and I love every part of my day — from cooking and organising to meeting people and making sure everyone is happy with what we serve. Creating delicious, nutritious meals for residents is incredibly rewarding.

A highlight of my career has been working for Peter Jones from Dragon’s Den and cooking for well-known names such as Prue Leith, Michael Parkinson and Ronnie Corbett. I’m proud of my experience and that I still enjoy a challenge.

In my role, I’m responsible for all catering, including food safety and training the team, ensuring high standards are always maintained. Outside of work, I enjoy walking, the outdoors, craft fayres, socialising, good food and a little time for beauty treatments.

Anna White
Anna White
Business Administrator

Hi, I’m Anna, the Business Administrator at Bailey Lodge. I have five years’ experience in care home administration. I chose to join Care UK because it has such a fantastic reputation — I’ve never heard a bad word about the company.

I’m organised, friendly and approachable, which I think are essential qualities in my role. My favourite part of the day is chatting with residents and their families — building those relationships is what makes the job so rewarding.

One of my biggest career highlights has been helping to maintain ‘Outstanding’ ratings at the homes I’ve worked in. I’m proud to know that my work makes a real difference to people’s lives. For me, the most important part of my role is always the people I’m doing it for.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, swimming and baking.

Nathaniel Burr
Nathaniel Burr
Head of Maintenance

Hi, I’m Nathaniel! I bring over seven years of maintenance experience to the role, along with a PAT testing certificate, a Midas minibus licence, and a Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture. I’ve been Maintenance Manager since June 2024, overseeing facilities, site health and safety, contractors, and leading the team to ensure everything runs smoothly.

I joined Care UK as an exciting new opportunity after relocating to the area and wanting a fresh start. I’m level-headed, respectful and patient, which I think are essential qualities in my role. For me, the most important part of my job is making sure residents are happy with my work and that the building is always safe, smart and well-presented.

My favourite part of the day is spending time with residents — no two days are ever the same, and I enjoy being able to make a real difference. Outside of work, I’m passionate about cars and motorsports. I played ice hockey for seven years and used to compete in trial biking, so I’ve always enjoyed staying active and hands-on.
