A team that’s committed to your loved one’s care, and to understanding what makes them happy.
When you’re looking for a care home for a much loved family member, you want to know that the people who work there are passionate about giving your loved one the very best care and treating them as the unique person that they are.
Discovering everything we can about a new resident – obviously helped by their family if they choose – is the foundation to helping us to deliver the ultimate in quality care. When we know their hobbies and interests we’ll be able to plan appealing activities. Knowing about their favourite foods is crucial to planning delicious meals that they’ll love.
Keeping active. Staying independent
Fun and varied activities form a vital part of everyday life at Hartismere Place, and your loved one are very welcome to make suggestions of things they’d like to do, or places they’d like to go. Quizzes and games, sing-alongs and performances from musicians and entertainers are on our activities' list. And how about getting up close to visiting therapy and petting zoo animals?
When you’ve been used to doing household routines for a lifetime, it can be odd to suddenly stop doing them when you move into a care home. If it helps a resident to retain a sense of purpose to do routine tasks around the home, we’ll support them to do whatever light tasks they wish. That may mean they get involved in laying the table for lunch, watering the plants or folding laundry. Whatever they want to do, we ensure that it’s completely within their physical abilities.
Getting out and about
We understand the important role that nature plays to promote a sense of calm and stimulate the senses for people living with dementia. Our lovely gardens have many different areas to explore and residents are very welcome to help with planting, weeding or tending to the plants if they wish, or they can simply sit and enjoy watching the visiting wildlife.
Of course, the Suffolk coast is close by – great for day trips – and the Pennings Nature Reserve is on our doorstep too. There are plenty of other attractions nearby that are on our ‘must visit’ list, including the Bressingham Steam Museum, Banham Zoo and Framlingham Castle. Trips don’t need to be grand either, just getting out to the local shops or a garden centre give residents a great change of scene.
Residents’ health and wellbeing are our priority at Hartismere Place. The home is close to the health centres and GP surgeries in Eye, and next door to Hartismere Hospital and the Hearing Care Centre. We have developed strong links with local doctors and other healthcare providers who regularly visit the home.
Spiritual wellbeing is also important to some of our residents, so we have forged relationships with local places of worship to arrange services at the home, if that’s what residents would like.
Delicious dishes, every day
Meal times are the highlight of each day at Hartismere Place care home. Our chefs pride themselves on creating delicious and nutritious menu options and cater for all tastes, diets and cultural requirements. There’s always plenty of choice, all sorts of options to tempt all appetites, and snacks and drinks are available at all times.
