The Hartismere Place care home team is committed to your loved one’s care, happiness and independence.
When you’re looking for a care home for a much loved family member, you want to know that the people who will be caring for them are passionate about giving your loved one the very best care and treating them with dignity and respect.
We find out all we can about your loved one, so that we can organise activities, events and outings that they’ll love. And, if they want to get involved in helping us to organise those activities and outings, then so much the better! There are no limits at Hartismere Place.
Keeping active. Staying independent
We’re a hub of the Hartismere community, and when we hosted an afternoon tea to celebrate the town’s 30 year twinning partnership with Pouzauges in France, residents helped to plan the day, provide refreshments and entertainment, and chatted to visitors. We’re now planning to support residents to attend future events in France.
Fun and varied activities form a vital part of everyday life at Hartismere Place, and your loved one is very welcome to make suggestions of things they’d like to do, or places they’d like to go. Quizzes and games, sing-alongs and performances from musicians and entertainers are regular activities. And how about getting up close to friendly pet therapy animals?
Residents are welcome to maintain a sense of purpose by helping with tasks around the home. When a number of people were keen to help with food preparation we rearranged the kitchen to make this easier. We’ve also supported a resident to obtain a blue parking badge for their car, which has boosted their sense of independence. They now support other residents to get out and about in the community.
Superb food every day
There’s always a buzz around our Eye care home at mealtimes, when residents get together to enjoy the delicious and nutritious dishes served up by our chef-led kitchen team. We cater for all tastes, diets and cultural requirements. There’s always plenty of choice, and your loved one is welcome to come back for seconds or thirds. Snacks and drinks are available in all our suites 24 hours a day too.
Relatives are welcome to join their loved one for a meal, and we’re happy to host private family gatherings if you’d like to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays with your loved one.

A care home that’s all about family
We hold monthly meetings with residents and quarterly meetings with relatives, but we’re regularly in touch with relatives to give them updates about their loved ones. We have a dedicated team of relatives who form our ‘Hartismere Group’. They get together to work on projects around the home, including enhance our gardens.
We also hold information sessions and training for relatives and people and businesses in the local community on particular topics related to older people’s care, including dementia.
