I work with a wonderful team at Norfolk House and I get great job satisfaction from seeing our team providing the great standard of care that our residents deserve. We strive to provide fulfilling lives for residents – so when I see residents are happy, it makes me happy too.
What’s great about working for Care UK is that they enable you to take your career in different directions, depending on your interests. I’m a registered nurse but have been able to develop to deputy manager, and I’ve had the opportunity to manage the home too.
Ever since I was young I’ve wanted to work with older people, making a difference to their lives every day. My very first job was as kitchen assistant here at Norfolk House. I learnt more about care and developed my skills and I’ve worked my way up. I was very proud to become the home’s in-house moving and handling trainer: it boosted my confidence hugely, particularly as I’d started out with no experience!
By far the best part of my day is any time I can spend with residents, getting to know them and their life stories better – whether that’s in the group activities or during one-to-one sessions with them.
I’ve been working for Care UK since February 2013: I wanted to help older people and Care UK has a great reputation in this field. It also provides superb opportunities for its people to develop their skills and knowledge.
I work in a great team for some fantastic residents and families, and the best part of the day is being with residents and finding out what they liked best about the food we’ve cooked for them. I’m always challenging myself to improve and do the best possible job, so their feedback is so important.
In my free time I enjoy eating out, as well as keeping active, with jogging and swimming. I also do some volunteering.
I’ve always wanted to make a difference to people’s lives, and working for Care UK in this role enables me to do just that. I also really enjoy the direct contact I have every day with local people as well as with residents and their families.
I’ve been working for Care UK for six years and by far the best reward of working here is seeing the difference you can make to others’ lives – even the smallest gesture can make a resident happy and getting a smile from them in return makes my day.
Before joining the team at Norfolk House in late 2017, I was HR Administrator at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon. I’ve also worked for British Airways running their graduate training programme.
I’m no stranger to multi-tasking, which is an advantage in this job, which is very varied and has lots of different responsibilities. I love the fact that no two days are the same, and I’m working in such a great team.
It’s a privilege to work at Norfolk House. One of the best aspects of working here is getting to chat to the residents. It’s a great feeling when a resident comes and sits in the office and puts the world to rights.
I love interior design so, when I’m not at work, I’m normally planning my next decorating project! I have two teenage children who keep me busy, as well as a dog called Beano.
I was a Care Assistant before I moved to Norfolk House in 2016. Working here has given me the chance to grow and develop, and becoming a Unit Manager was a major highlight for me. I enjoy using my initiative, and, in this home and in this role, I have opportunities to do that.
Every day brings something new with different things to keep me on my toes! What I enjoy is that there’s always a chance to learn and put my knowledge and skills into practice – whether it’s getting to know a new resident, finding out more about a person who has been with us for a while, or getting involved in a GP round.
I’m a keen traveller, so, when I have time away from work, I like to get away and explore the world. I love to spend time with my family too.
I’m a qualified nurse – I come from Italy – and I joined the Norfolk House team back in 2016 when a friend recommended the home as a great place to work, with a supportive team and lovely residents. I haven’t looked back since!
I’ve had great opportunities here, developing my skills and progressing to be a Unit Manager while supporting my team to progress too. I love spending time with residents and listening to their stories. When I see them happy and smiling it makes me happy too.
I like to spend my free time with my family, cooking delicious meals and listening to music.
I’ve had a very varied working life but my passion is for care. I’ve cared for adults with severe learning difficulties and I then moved into older people’s care working in activities.
As time has gone on, I’ve developed a huge interest, and passion for, dementia, and I’ve done a lot of training in the subject. I believe wholeheartedly in supporting people who are living with dementia to get the most out of each day, and I bring that passion and commitment to my work at Norfolk House.
When I’m not here at the care home you can find me in my role as a Purple Angel with the group in Shepperton – we support people who have been diagnosed with dementia and are still living independently at home.

All our teams get to know residents to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.
Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
