Mandy Thompson

Home Manager

Mandy Thompson

I decided to join Care UK because I wanted to make a positive difference in residents’ lives, ensuring they live life to the full while receiving the highest quality care.

For me, being a good home manager is not just about supporting residents but also about making sure all colleagues feel valued and appreciated in their roles.

I hold a Diploma Level 5 in Management and have built my career around dementia care, where I’ve previously worked as a Dementia Care Manager. These experiences have given me the skills and knowledge I need to lead with passion, patience, commitment and empathy.

The best part of my day is seeing and speaking to happy staff and residents, and knowing that together we’ve created the warm, welcoming atmosphere that Westfield Park is known for.

One of my proudest achievements in my career has been becoming a registered manager, and I’m equally proud of the positive feedback we consistently receive from families and visitors to the home.

Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with family and friends and heading off on holidays whenever I can.

Dementia Manager

I am proud to work as Dementia Manager at Westfield Park, having progressed into this role from my previous position as Residential Unit Lead. Supporting residents living with dementia is something I am deeply passionate about, and I take great pride in helping them live their lives to the best of their ability.

I hold an NVQ Level 3 alongside an NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Adults with a Learning Disability. I believe empathy, compassion and excellent communication skills are essential in my role, allowing me to understand residents’ needs and support them in a meaningful and person-centred way.

My favourite part of the working day is seeing residents fulfilled and content. Knowing they feel safe, supported and able to enjoy their day is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why I chose to work in care.

One of my biggest career highlights has been progressing into the role of Dementia Manager. I am proud of how far I have come and the opportunity to make a positive difference every day. Seeing smiling, happy faces among residents and staff makes me incredibly proud of the environment we create together.

The most important part of my role is supporting residents with dignity, kindness and understanding.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my best friend

Residential Unit Manager

I progressed into my present role after working as a Senior Care Assistant here at Westfield Park. I hold Level 3 and Level 4 NVQs and am also a trained Moving and Handling trainer, which supports both safe practice and the ongoing development of colleagues within the home.

To do this role well, I believe empathy, patience and a truly person-centred approach are essential. Understanding the unique needs, wishes and routines of every resident is at the heart of everything I do. I work closely with my colleagues to ensure the unit runs smoothly and that all residents feel safe, supported and able to live fulfilling lives.

My favourite part of the working day is interacting with residents and colleagues. Spending time on the unit and checking in with everyone reminds me daily why I chose a career in care. Seeing residents content and engaged is incredibly rewarding.

I am very proud of the difference my colleagues and I make to residents’ everyday lives and of the wonderful team I work alongside – the team consistently goes above and beyond to deliver high-quality care.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family.

Residential Manager

My career in care began many years ago as a carer, and I have been proud to progress through a number of roles to my current position as Residential Manager at Westfield Park. Along the way, I have completed my NVQ training and built the knowledge and experience needed to lead with confidence and compassion.

I believe caring, compassion and enthusiasm are essential in my role. I strive to support residents and colleagues alike, creating a positive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and safe. Being part of such a dedicated team at Westfield Park is something I truly appreciate, and I am proud to work alongside colleagues who consistently go above and beyond for our residents.

My favourite part of the working day is seeing residents happy and content, and knowing that the care and support we provide makes a real difference to their lives. These moments remind me why I chose a career in care and continue to motivate me every day.

The most important part of my role is ensuring the care and safety of our residents, while supporting a team that shares the same commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, listening to music and spending quality time with my family

Head Housekeeper

My experience in care began as a Care Assistant, where I developed a strong understanding of the importance of safe, comfortable environments for residents. That foundation has supported my progression into my current role as Head Housekeeper at Westfield Park, a career step I am very proud of.

I have completed COSHH and IPC training, which underpins everything I do day to day. Organisation, attention to detail, clear communication and strong leadership are all essential in my role. I work closely with colleagues to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the home, helping to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and the spread of infection. Knowing that our work directly supports residents’ health and wellbeing makes the role incredibly rewarding.

My favourite part of the working day is seeing excellent standards consistently met and working alongside a great, motivated team. There is a real sense of pride in walking through the home and knowing it is clean, safe and welcoming for everyone who lives and works here.

My biggest career highlight to date has been progressing into a head of department role. What makes me most proud is seeing a happy team and a home that reflects the high standards we strive for every day. The most important part of my role is ensuring residents have a clean, comfortable environment where they can feel at ease.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, cooking and gardening.
