Ellesmere House wins award for quality care

Residents at Ellesmere House are receiving some of the very best care in the country, thanks to the dedication of its highly professional and positive team, and now staff and residents are celebrating another award win.

Care UK provides residential care for more than 5,000 people in 88 homes across England and Scotland and the team at Ellesmere House took them all on to be named winner of the Care Quality Award 2011.

The award was given for the home’s exceptional level of care, including consistently high performance scores on care, clinical outcomes, hygiene and documentation.

The home, which opened in 2008, has a lot of bright open spaces, including two gardens providing sensory activities for the residents. The home has four floors that are accessible by lifts and there are 60 single rooms with ensuite bathrooms in all. There is a rehabilitation unit with 10 rooms as well as two nursing floors and a residential floor.

In July this year it was visited by inspectors from the Quality Care Commission who awarded the home with a coveted ‘Excellent’ rating. The inspection report said: ‘Residents told us that the home was very nice and that staff were respectful and caring. They were happy to be in the home and enjoyed their independence.’

The home was also recently praised by the Kensington and Chelsea Dignity Champion who spent several days visiting the home and talking to residents and their families.

Home Manager Therese Laurent said: “I have a wonderful team who are dedicated to providing the very best of care. They are diligent and caring and this can be seen in the very high scores we see in our satisfaction surveys and the very positive feedback from residents and their relatives.”
