Packed programme of celebrations at Heather View

Home news

Heather View had a fun packed programme to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

We began with a selection of creative crafts to brighten up our communal areas, getting everyone involved producing some fantastic decorations.

The residents’ gardening club created a Jubilee garden while the sewing club made bunting ready for the main event.

One resident and her daughter took on the challenge to decorate the entire Village area with red, white and blue.

We held a Royal Archive Day, with a hands-on reminiscent session, using vintage items collected from family, staff and the community followed by a film of the Queen’s coronation.

Recognising the Queen’s Commonwealth links with India, we organised a social curry evening with food provided by a local restaurant.

We made links with several local care homes  and held f joint activities to celebrate the Jubilee, building closer connections and new friendships.

We created a Jubilee scrapbook filled with royal memories from residents and staff , such as childhood street parties and added our own events as the jubilee programme unfolded.

The main event was our Community Jubilee Family Fun Day in our gardens with entertainment by the great niece of two of our residents who sang a selection of musical songs.

There was a traditional Punch and Judy Show, balloon making, face painting, games, tombola cream teas and homemade cakes and we crowned a Heather View king and queen who wore crowns handmade by two residents.
