April was a busy month of activities for relatives and friends of Heather View, with events ranging from a hunt for chocolate eggs to tea dances and jumbles sales all taking place.
There were no April fools in sight when residents and their friends and families had an egg-cellent time searching for chocolate treats left by the Easter Bunny.
And of course there was plenty of time to enjoy the chocolate treats with a cup of tea after the high-spirited hunt.
Heather View has great links with All Saints Church in Crowborough, and residents were delighted with the special Easter Communion service held at the home, which gave time for reflection as well the chance to join in some favourite hymns.
Next, it was time to enjoy some Aintree-style racing in the home’s village green area, with a Grand National-inspired horse racing competition followed by cream teams and traditional sing-along.
The music became more classical when the woodwind section of the ARCH group visited to give a performance in the Ashdown Lounge and the visit was so successful, future concerts have been planned too.
Everyone rolled up their sleeves to join in with a fun jumble sale at the home in mid-April, with lots of items and treats donated by colleagues, relatives and local friends.
The month ended with two special celebration parties – first to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s birthday and secondly for a St George’s Day garden party.
Heather View was decorated with bunting and Union flags for the Queen’s birthday celebration and residents enjoyed strawberries and champagne to toast the Monarch.
The patriotic theme continued with a St George’s Day party which was held in the Heather View garden thanks to a lovely sunny day.
The garden was full of family and friends enjoying tea and playing games in the sunshine – it was the perfect way to welcome spring!
