Pet show to be held at Heather View

Home news

The community are invited to bring much-loved animals of all shapes and sizes to our pet show at Heather View.

Cats and dogs will be welcome, along with rabbits and guinea pigs, and if you have something even more exotic then a panel of judges, made up of residents at the care home, will be delighted to see them too.

Funds raised during the event on Saturday, October 12, will go to the Pets as Therapy charity which takes dogs, and sometimes cats, into hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other places to meet patients and residents.

Emilie Watson, activities organiser at Heather View said PAT dogs make regular visits to the home and residents enjoy making a fuss of them. Her own dog Maude gets a lot of loving attention there too.

Emilie said: “We see first-hand what a wonderful job the PAT dogs charity does and would like to give something back to help them continue making a difference in people’s lives.

“A pet show is the ideal way of doing this because our residents will get a great deal of pleasure from talking to children about their special pets and I am sure the children will enjoy showing their animals too.”

If you would like to take part in the pet show please email Emilie at activities.heatherview@careuk.com.
